What you get to do every day:

  • Direct and prioritize activities of assigned projects including tasks to be completed by other functional areas.
  • Coordinate tasks between Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Operations to implement supplier and material change projects.
  • Evaluate prints and supplier proposals on technical merits. Work in collaboration with Engineering and Quality to design and execute testing and evaluation protocol for each project.
  • Evaluate and inspect samples sent by suppliers. Work with Operations to get product samples built for customer evaluation.
  • Work directly with customers on sample testing and validation approval.
  • Utilize appropriate project management tools, and communicate plans and risk management techniques to create rigor in project planning and execution
  • Prepare accurate project plans in appropriate detail and assure milestones are achieved.  Accurately report and communicate progress and bottlenecks.  Seek additional resources when needed.
  • Provide support and input to the Procurement Category Managers on category strategies.
  • Help to identify and develop new projects targeting cost savings and strategic sourcing improvement.
  • Collaborate with Procurement Team on technical aspects of supplier negotiations where appropriate.
  • Participate in Technical Design Reviews for NPI to ensure supplier expertise and innovation are considered in component design and specifications.
  • Provide inputs required for part number setup.

What we're looking for in you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain discipline; BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 1+ years' experience in an engineering role; ability to understand the impacts and practicality of changes in specifications, solid business acumen and understanding of cost structures and P/L impact; prior project management experience
  • 1+ years’ experience in a supply chain or procurement function.
  • 1+ years’ experience managing multiple projects
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Must be able to clearly articulate and listen attentively to questions, concerns and feedback from coworkers and customers.  Must be able to create legible, accurate, and detailed documents that clearly communicate product and manufacturing expectations. Must be comfortable communicating outside of organization and keeping positive relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Technical Knowledge:  Basic understanding of manufacturing equipment. Able to read and understand Bill of Material and Routings. Experience working with drawings and specifications. 
  • General understanding of business practices including, supplier relations, contract negotiation, logistics, warehousing, and lean supply chain practices.
  • Ability to travel internationally. Expect several trips per year, mostly to suppliers in Americas/Europe or facility in Costa Rica.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing Tools and Concepts a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project to develop schedules, allocate resources and establish program budgets a plus
  • Lean and / or Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification a plus
