Bold ideas for the future
Elke Berndl, HR Manager
"How do we ensure that learning content sticks in people's minds? How do we make teams future-proof? And how do we achieve interactive onboarding? These questions drive me. While others talk about modern learning methods, I have the freedom to try new things in my job. I love this green field. When your head is full of ideas and you are driven by a passion to do things differently in order to support people and teams in their growth.
Learning Academy Project
Would you like a few examples? Here is my first project, the “HME Learning Academy.” When I saw that after two days of classroom training, the notebooks disappeared unread into drawers, I realized that learning success quickly evaporates in everyday life. So I presented the project as follows: “I don't develop training courses, I develop learning journeys.” This mixture of social and formal learning methods really anchors what has been learned in the mind. The results speak for themselves. It fulfills me to see how our employees grow and develop professionally and personally through these learning journeys. My boldest coup is the “Future Skills Toolbox.” When I presented the idea internally, I held my breath: a set of cards to make our managers and employees fit for the future? Admittedly, the approach was unusual. But I put together, tested, and refined every single exercise myself. Today, I am holding the first proofs in my hands and am excited to see what new doors their use will open. I am currently working with a colleague to revamp our induction days for new employees. We are creating a marketplace where new team members can discover the company like a bazaar. They ask questions, make real connections, and experience an unforgettable start - almost like speed dating for the working world.
A Fulfilled Work Life
Sometimes people ask me: “Why do you put yourself through this? Why don’t you just do the bare minimum?” My answer is always the same: “Because I want to see the impact.”
There is nothing more fulfilling than watching how my ideas transform the company, how people grow, and how teams become stronger.”
