Heraeus Quartz North America, LLC. has an immediate opening for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our Operations team at our Buford, GA. location. The primary responsibility of this role is to promote a sustainable EHS culture within the plant and provide necessary systems/administrative support to meet or exceed health and safety requirements. The EHS Manager will actively lead expanding and improving the effectiveness of the Health and Safety Management System for the plant.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Budget and staff responsibility for its Site EHS Department.
  • Local implementation of Heraeus EHS Development Path requirements.
  • Initiate ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications for the plant as directed by Plant Leadership. EHS development path fulfills the requirements of both ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Support Site Manager in ensuring compliance with all EHS laws and regulations, EHS conditions of licenses, permits and/or authorizations, as well as other EHS requirements that apply to the Site.
  • The role will be owner of the Heraeus sustainability requirements to meet 50% Co2E reduction by 2030 and Project Manager for any Sustainability project.
  • Key User for the Site for Intelex EHS Software and Enhesa EHS Legal Register.
  • Provide expert technical support in identifying and resolving EHS issues.
  • Support Site Manager in developing, reviewing and following up/ tracking on action plans for identified EHS issues as required to ensure that tasks are being completed on schedule.
  • Support development, implementation and regular updates of EHS risk assessments.
  • Maintain the sites training plan. Support development, implementation and regular updates of EHS trainings that require EHS expert knowledge.
  • Organize, join and follow-up frequent EHS walks,
  • Conduct EHS-relevant communication to governmental authorities and to insurance companies as well as reporting of EHS KPI within Intelex.
  • Organize regular EHS Site Committee Meetings and annual Site Management Reviews at the Site and ensure that relevant information regarding the EHS is communicated in timely manner to the appropriate employees and site management.
  • Support Site Manager in completing the annual HPS EHS Self-Assessment, every three years EHS Compliance Check and any other EHS Audits/ Assessment.
  • Complete HPS EHS Assessor trainings and participate in the regional HPS EHS assessments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What is required for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience in industrial manufacturing sites with some exposure to Chemicals process Safety/RMP requirements preferred. 
  •  Strong working knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations, safe operating practices in a business environment and EHS enforcement of procedures and policies.
  • Experience in performing audits.
  • The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Must possess Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, and leadership ability; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative with the ability to meet deadlines.
