A primary responsibility of this position is to develop and lead a team capable of managing all aspects of the production environment, achieving safety, production, cost and quality goals, and meeting customer requirements.

Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Foster a culture of accountability and ensure operator safety, resolving hazards promptly.
  • Fulfill customer orders and commitments daily, meeting production goals and quality standards within budget.
  • Implement and track production schedules to meet productivity, cost, and efficiency targets; manage material scrap.
  • Schedule daily production labor and equipment to meet current and future needs, including staffing and overtime.
  • Facilitate Gemba meetings for effective communication on key performance indicators and daily priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, programs, guidelines, laws, and regulations, including EHS and HR.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and processes.
  • Supervise employees according to company policies and laws, including selection, training, development, and performance management.
  • Ensure adherence to ensure self, direct reports and overall employee population are aware of and adhere to Code of Conduct Guidelines.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field or five years of leadership experience in a chemical batch production environment are required.  The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Organizational skills, teamwork skills, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to solve problems are required.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodology and ISO standards is required.
  • Computer efficiency in SAP and MS Office is strongly preferred.
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends as situations arise.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand and walk, including up and down stairs.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts as well as hazardous materials/chemicals.
  • Required as needed to wear Specialized Protective or Safety Equipment such as safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, or breathing apparatus which required medical clearence.
