Program Summary

A Co-Op position at Heraeus Medevio offers students an 8-month (May 2027-December 2027) hands-on, immersive, and project-based experience in R&D and Operations engineering fields. Engineering Co-Ops work under the guidance of experienced engineers to contribute to real-world projects in areas like design, testing, manufacturing, or product development. Co-Ops can expect to work on medical device innovations while receiving professional mentorship and industry exposure. This will be an on-site position in our Fridley, MN location. Occasional travel to the White Bear Lake, MN location may be needed.  

Position Summary

The R&D Quality Engineer Co-Op will work closely with design, product, and process engineering teams to ensure products meet quality standards throughout the development lifecycle. The co-op will be exposed to and work on activities to bridge the gap between product development and quality assurance. Activities can include reviewing technical documentation and specifications, performing risk assessments, and developing test methods and plans to validate functionality and compliance. 

What You’ll Do Every Day:

  • Provide general support to various engineering focused cross-functional teams through the various stages of the product lifecycle, providing inspection, correlation, characterization, DOE, PFMEA, qualification, GR&R, and data analysis support using sound statistical methods.
  • Support working with internal and external customers and suppliers to develop and improve inspection methods, process controls, and standards for new and existing products.
  • Provide support for the nonconforming material and product process which includes investigation, disposition, and identifying corrective and preventative actions.
  • Utilize statistical tools to monitor and assess product performance, identify root causes, and determine potential process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide support to system implementation and improvements, including SPC/SQS software.
  • Participate in other operations and quality team meetings and activities.
  • Respond to changing priorities in a timely manner.
  • Other duties assigned as required.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or comparable Engineering program.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite during the duration of the co-op.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints and read or interpret standards.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
  • Driven to learn more about real-world application of academic engineering concepts.

Medevio is committed to providing competitive total compensation and benefits packages. The expected hiring range for this position is between $20.00/hr and $26.00/hr based upon the position and is subject to variation based on the number of years of school completed. This is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Base salaries are determined by taking a variety of factors in account, including, but not limited to, candidate qualifications, geographic locations, market conditions and internal equity. Our total compensation package for interns and co-ops may also include eligibility for a 401(k) plan with company match and paid time off.
