Purpose of the Job 

Operates and monitors chemical production processes, equipment, and material flows associated with precious metal chemical product manufacturing. Responsible for executing complex process operations, maintaining material accountability, ensuring product quality, and supporting regulatory compliance while safely handling hazardous chemicals and high-value precious metal assets. Contributes to production efficiency, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives through effective process execution and technical problem solving

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Responsible

  • Chemical Process Operations: Operate, monitor, and control chemical production processes including Rhodium production, PLC-controlled operations, Rotovap systems, and LS treatment processes. 

  • Equipment Operation & Monitoring: Safely operate and maintain pumps, reactors, filter presses, valves, pH probes, ovens, forklifts, and associated production equipment while ensuring operational reliability and process continuity.

  • Material Accountability & Tracking: Maintain accurate tracking of precious metal-bearing materials, process inventories, and production yields throughout manufacturing operations.

  • SAP Transaction Processing: Record and track received precious metals and produced material quantities through SAP (PMT), execute production transactions, process manufacturing confirmations, and maintain inventory accuracy through system documentation.

  • Quality & Process Control: Monitor process parameters, material conditions, and production performance to ensure adherence to specifications and operating requirements. 

  • Process Documentation: Complete production documentation, shift communications, material transactions, and manufacturing order confirmations accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Equipment Inspection & Maintenance: Perform routine equipment inspections, operational checks, and first-level troubleshooting activities to maintain process reliability and safety

Accountable

  • Precious Metal Accountability: Accuracy and safeguarding of high-value precious metal inventory and materials processed within assigned operations.

  • Production Execution: Safe, efficient, and compliant execution of assigned production operations while meeting established production targets.

  • Data & Transaction Accuracy: Accuracy of SAP transactions, material movements, production confirmations, and inventory reporting.

  • Operational Safety: Compliance with safety procedures, emergency response requirements, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling procedures.

  • Environmental Compliance: Proper handling and processing of hazardous waste and adherence to environmental regulations and operating procedures.

Support

  • Collaborate with Crew Leads, Supervisors, Maintenance, Laboratory personnel, Production Operations, EHS, and Quality teams to support operational objectives. 

  • Participate in shift handovers and communicate process status, production updates, equipment concerns, and operational risks. 

  • Support process improvement initiatives designed to improve safety, efficiency, quality, and material recovery.

  • Assist with production issue resolution and operational troubleshooting activities.

Key Figure and Interfaces

  • Impact on the Business: Directly supports production output, product quality, customer fulfillment, and manufacturing efficiency through execution of critical chemical production processes. 

  • Maintains accountability for high-value precious metal inventories and process materials. 

  • Influences operational performance through accurate process execution, material tracking, and equipment monitoring. 

  • Reduces operational risk by ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and process requirements.

  • Internal Interfaces: Production Operators, Refinery Operations, Quality Assurance, EHS, Lab, Warehouse, Department leads and Supervisors

  • External Interfaces: Contractors and Service Providers as needed

  • Communication & Decision-making Power:

  • Effectively communicate process conditions, production status, inventory concerns, equipment issues, and safety observations to supervisors and operational teams. 

  • Exercise independent judgment in identifying process deviations, safety concerns, equipment abnormalities, and material discrepancies requiring escalation. 

  • Prioritize operational activities to support production schedules and process requirements.

  • Innovation & Complexity:

  • Operate multiple chemical production systems involving hazardous materials, precious metals, and tightly controlled operating parameters. 

  • Apply working knowledge of chemical reactions, process flows, and material behavior to support safe and efficient operations. 

  • Identify operational improvement opportunities that enhance productivity, safety, process reliability, and inventory control.

  • Troubleshoot routine production and equipment issues using established operating procedures.

  • Knowledge, Experience & Certifications / Licenses:

  • Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

  • Forklift Certification required or ability to obtain certification.

  • HAZWOPER Certification required or ability to obtain certification.

  • Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of chemical processing, manufacturing, production operations, or related industrial experience preferred.

  • Experience with chemical process equipment, industrial production systems, or hazardous materials preferred.

  • SAP production transaction experience preferred.

  • Working Conditions & Risks:

  • Exposure to powders, chemical compounds, industrial processing equipment, elevated temperatures, and outdoor environmental conditions. 

  • Exposure to furnaces, mills, screening systems, blending equipment, and material preparation operations. 

  • Occasional lifting and movement of materials up to 50 pounds. 

  • Requires use of PPE including safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, eye protection, respiratory protection, and other required safety equipment. 

  • Must maintain compliance with OSHA requirements, hazardous waste regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies

  • May work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules as required.
