Program Summary

A Co-Op position at Heraeus Medevio offers students an 8-month (May 2027-December 2027) hands-on, immersive, and project-based experience in R&D and Operations engineering fields. Engineering Co-Ops work under the guidance of experienced engineers to contribute to real-world projects in areas like design, testing, manufacturing, or product development. Co-Ops can expect to work on medical device innovations while receiving professional mentorship and industry exposure. This will be an on-site position in our Fridley, MN location. Occasional travel to the White Bear Lake, MN location may be needed.

Position Summary

The Product Development Engineer Co-Op will be actively engaged in the design and development of guide catheters, delivery systems, guidewires, neuromodulation leads and/or medical device components while maintaining compliance with the regulatory requirements of the medical device industry. This position will include training to a quality system, exposure to multiple engineering disciplines, and hands-on experience with testing and manufacturing medical devices.

What You’ll Do Every Day:

  • Provide general support to design and development projects of new interventional medical device products that meet performance requirements.
  • Assist with select project scope items, including documentation required for the regulated medical device industry.
  • Support the development of test methods to characterize performance outputs of the design.
  • Execute testing and other required quality deliverables to ensure product design outputs will objectively satisfy product design inputs.
  • Generate engineering investigation reports of test data gathered.
  • Participate in other product development team meetings and activities.
  • Respond to changing priorities in a timely manner.
  • Other duties assigned as required.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering, or comparable Engineering program.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite during the duration of the co-op.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
  • Driven to learn more about real-world application of academic engineering concepts.

Medevio is committed to providing competitive total compensation and benefits packages. The expected hiring range for this position is between $20.00/hr and $26.00/hr based upon the position and is subject to variation based on the number of years of school completed. This is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Base salaries are determined by taking a variety of factors in account, including, but not limited to, candidate qualifications, geographic locations, market conditions and internal equity. Our total compensation package for interns and co-ops may also include eligibility for a 401(k) plan with company match and paid time off.
